A. Residential Treatment School
Residential treatment schools are treatment center where kids just happen to have dorm rooms and can spend the night. It is not a place where a child goes because he has trouble staying on task or following directions. It is not a facility where a child is sent to be disciplined for something he or she has done wrong.
A residential treatment center is a place that takes a multi-faceted approach to addressing a multitude of problems that extend beyond the classroom and into a child's daily life with his or her family, peers, and the rest of the world. Residential treatment is serious stuff and the decision to place your child in one should never be made lightly.
Provo Canyon School is one such facility for treating boys and girls who have the capability for normal functioning but have a tendency to abuse or complaint in functioning of the day to day activities. Provo Canyon School has proven cases and methods of turning around the lives of young people beset by emotional and behavioral problems.
The School was set up in 1971 by Jack Williams and William H Christ. There are two sections of the school, one at Provo, which is for boys and second at Orem for girls. Orem is a town located close to Provo. Provo Canyon School treats children for learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems.
B. Public Schools
Public schools are secondary or elementary schools that are funded by the public. The tuition fees are either economical or free of cost. This is how public schools are in the US.
Public schools are divided into:
- The elementary or primary school: kindergarten to 4th, 5th or 6th grade
- The intermediate, middle or junior high school, from grade 5 to grade 8.
- High school or secondary school from 9 th to 12 th grade.
C. Private Schools
Private schools are independent bodies without any local, state or national funding. They can be called independent schools because of their self-dependence on all matters. Private schools charge more tuition fees from the students as they claim to provide more facilities- either in academics, sports or other related activities. Boarding schools are also part of independent schools. |
